Successful History

Shu Kim is the Managing Partner and Founder of SK Capital Associates and has over 20 years of experience investing in and managing real estate and related investments. 

 

Prior to forming SKCA, Shu was a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers within their Real Estate Principal Transactions Group, Global Real Estate Group and was a Senior Advisor for the Real Estate Private Equity and Mezzanine Funds.

 

Between 2000 and 2003, Shu was instrumental in building and leading Lehman Brothers Asian Real Estate platform and built the firm’s inaugural asset management and servicing platforms in Asia.

 

Shu returned to Lehman New York in 2003, where she focused on all aspects of real estate finance, including mortgage and mezzanine financing, debt syndication, preferred equity, complex equity investments, asset management, and foreclosures and restructurings.

 

Shu also co-founded Shustir.com, a social commerce site for small business in 2008 and was a Senior Banker at JP Morgan where she was a trusted fiduciary and responsible for all facets of wealth management from investment management, tax and estate planning, credit, and specialty wealth advisory services for corporate executives, ultra-high-net worth individuals, and endowments.

 

Shu held previous positions at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and McCorriston Miho Miller Mukai as a real estate attorney. 

 

She earned a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a J.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law. She is admitted to practice in Hawaii and New York.
